Hannah Gregory is from Western Australia and enjoyed a childhood of ocean, SUNBURN AND FISHING BOATS. as an outsider artist, gregory was always drawn to irreverent, bold works in painting, drawing, printing and photography. IN HER MID TWENTIES she became focussed entirely on working with glass AND HAS NOT STOPPED EXPLORING THE MEDIUM, OR THE SELF SHE FINDS WITHIN IT.

Since 2016, stained glass has been the planet by which Hannah wakes and sleeps. she has HELD RESIDENCIES, FELLOWSHIPS AND SHOWN WORK in The United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and the United States of America, DURING THIS TIME SHE HAS acquireD a comprehensive and contrasting repertoire of both medieval and innovative, new skills and techniques to working with Stained Glass.

Gregory has been awarded grants from the Australia Council of the Arts, The International Specialised Skills Institute, The Western Australian DLGSC and The American Glass Guild and has attended residencies in Wales, Austria, Australia and The United States of America.

AT THE BEGINNING OF 2022, GREGORY RETURNED FROM TWO YEARS AS THE INTERNATIONAL ARTIST IN RESIDENT AT SWANSEA COLLEGE OF ART, AND COMPLETED A RESIDENCY POSTING AT THE FREMANTLE ARTS CENTRE before re-locating to regional western australia in 2023. she currently ENJOYS WORKING ON BOTH ARCHITECTURAL COMMISSIONS AND EXPERIMENTAL AUTONOMOUS WORKS, and is looking forward to attending haystack mountain school of arts on a fellowship placement in 2024.

 

Hannah Gregory Glass acknowledges the Bibbulmun people, and The Yued people as the Traditional Owners of the land on which she creates, both in Perth and Cervantes. She pays her respects to Elders past, present and future.
